In this nurturing and transformational shamanic healing circle, we will gather in community for celebration and healing work. The circle will include a focus and topic. Learn to promote healing through drums/rattles, intention, breathing/toning, guided meditation, and gentle touch. Come with open hearts and minds to receive and to heal, ourselves and each other in a safe, sacred space.

Bring drums, rattles, journal, and a stone (palm size). You may also wish to bring a sacred object for placement on our Altar of gratitude and healing. (Extra rattles will be provided.)

Mary Anne Flanagan is the creator and founder of Toning the OM™. Toning the OM™ is an international healing arts company that is committed to nurturing body, spirit, and heart connections through experiential workshops, retreats, healing, and coaching sessions.

Mary Anne is a Certified Life Coach from New York University, a Shamanic Teacher, and practitioner. She has also received a Certificate in Coaching in Medicine and Leadership from Harvard University. Since 2000, Mary Anne has been facilitating national workshops, community drumming and teaching about global energy medicine. She has worked with nonprofit organizations for almost 20 years in management and training. Mary Anne has a private healing and coaching practice in New York City.

NYC Pagan Pride Day #11 in '11! All ages are welcome at the free event, which will include: bands and belly dancers; candles, incense, clothing, jewelry and other merchants; Workshops for children and adults, tarot readings, a harvest ritual, food drive and information on Pagan spiritual practices.  We will soon be accepting applications for workshops, vendors, performers, information groups, and volunteers. Happy Summer Solstice! What a most auspicious time to learn about merging with the gods, even if it's only temporary!

In some traditions, it's called "aspecting." In this workshop, Kokopelli will facilitate a discussion and a practical exercise to help students with invoking deity for ritual purposes. In 1990, he studied under and was initiated by Lady Maeve Rhea of MotherChant Coven in Philadelphia, and has continued his practice and teaching of invoking in this tradition. Since then, Maeve Rhea has written one of the best books on this subject - "Summoning Forth Wiccan Gods and Goddesses" - and this will be a main reference for this workshop.

Linda Fernandez has a deep reverence for the profound love, truth and beauty in all that life has to give, teach and inspire. Walking Hawk grew up under the keen tutelage of wise medicine elders from a mixture of different nations. Being exposed to the humble ways of the ancestors gave Walking Hawk the insight to train and reflect on the oneness of Mother Earth and all who live with her. Beltane in Brooklyn

Event Details: Beltane was a time of fertility and unbridled merrymaking, when young and old would spend the night making love in the Greenwood. Older married couples were allowed to remove their wedding rings (and the restrictions they imply) for this one night. Women traditionally would braid flowers into their hair. Men and women alike would decorate their bodies. They would process back home, stopping at each house to leave flowers, and enjoy the best of food and drink that the home had to offer. In every village, the maypole, usually a birch or ash pole, was raised, and dancing and feasting began. Many communities elected a virgin as their "May Queen" to lead marches or songs. To the Celts, she represented the virgin goddess on the eve of her transition from Maiden to Mother. Depending on the time and place, the consort might be named "Jack-in-the-Green", "Green Man", "May Groom", or "May King". The union of the Queen and her consort symbolized the fertility and rebirth of the world. This is the Love Dance of the Gods, the Wedding of Heaven and Earth, the Bridal feast of the Goddess! It is customary that Handfastings, for a year and a day, occur at this time. These are trial marriages that typically occur between couples before deciding to embark on life eternal. It was understood by our ancestors that one does not really know another until they live with them, and things change. With this understanding, unions were entered upon, first with a test period, and then a further commitment. It was kept in mind that only through the choice of both to remain, could the relationship exist. We will be dancing the Maypole and Jumping the Cauldron.
